The State Medical Faculty of Bangladesh was established in 1914 for the purpose of holding examinations and awarding diplomas to L.M.F. and M.M.F doctors. After partition of Bengal in 1947, The State Medical Faculty of East Pakistan was created for the same purpose. Subsequently compounder ship, Dresscrship, Para-medical Technicians, Medical Assistant and Palli Chikitshak courses have been introduced and this Faculty has been holding examinations and awarding diplomas and certificates to the successful candidates.

To prescribe syllabi for Medical Assistants, Palli Chikitshaks and all kinds of Technicians namely, Health and Sanitary, Laboratory Medicine, Radiology & Imaging, Dentistry, Sanitary Inspectorship, Physiotherapy, Radiotherapy, Occupational therapy.

Diploma in Health Technology:

1. SSC Science or Science equivalent with Physics & Chemistry.
2. Minimum GPA 2.5 in SSC examination or equivalent.
3. Candidate passed SSC examination in current year and previous three years or as decided by the authority for each year of admission.
4. For 3 government institution the admission processes are conducted by the Director Medical Education of the DGHS (http://www.dghs.gov.bd).
5. Private institutions carries out their own admission processes.

Diploma in Medical Assistant:

1. SSC Passed or equivalent as per Government decision.
2. SSC science with Biology.
3. GPA and others criteria and condition as per Government decision.

Community Health Worker:

1. SSC passed or equivalent.
